William B. Ericson, Jr., MD, FAAOS, FACS, FAENS is an award-winning orthopedic hand surgeon with a special interest in painful conditions that do not show on standard diagnostic tests, including painful instability of joints and tendons, and subtle peripheral nerve disorders. A graduate of MIT and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Ericson has a strong science background and is ABOS and NBPAS board certified in orthopedic surgery and hand surgery, and has extensive experience treating patients with connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
He has co-authored several book chapters, and has been a guest speaker at medical conferences locally, nationally and internationally. He received the Jules Tinel MD Award from the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons in 2009 in recognition of his contributions to understanding peripheral nerve compression, and the “Be the One” Medical Honoree award from the Arthritis Foundation in 2019 for his contributions to the understanding of prevention of thumb arthritis.
Dr. Ericson diagnosed his first EDS patient in 1990, and has been actively involved in the international EDS medical community since 2006, and co-authored the article, “The Orthopedic Management of the Ehlers Danlos Syndromes” published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics in 2017. He is part of a small but growing array of medical professionals in the Seattle area dedicated to helping patients with complex painful musculoskeletal problems that begin with joint hypermobility.
